I know, I know...what? An actual post? Stunning! But, this weekend, so far, is too good to let get away. If I had used a camera to record it, that would be even better, but, please, one step at a time! So, Friday night we went to see Julie & Julia. I had been looking forward to it...Jon, too. I'm about half way through the book. Anyway, even though we had just been to dinner before the movie, by the time we got out of there, I was starving. It was a fun movie...Meryl Streep is definitely worth the price of admission. But, then, we always go the matinee, so take it for what it's worth. On the way home, I felt compelled to stop at Barnes & Noble (yay!) and buy a copy of "Mastering the Art of French Cooking". If you are unaware, Julie & Julia is about a woman named Julie Powell and how she decides to cook her way through the entire "MtAoFC" in one year. She blogs about the experience which, of course makes her famous (in as limited sort of way). If I have to explain this, she's really not all that famous, is she? My favorite line in the movie is , "I could blog. I have thoughts". Words to live by for any blogger. The movie switches back and forth between the "Julie-Julia Project" and Julia Child's real life, as she was writing "MtAoFC". So, Saturday morning we are running errands and just generally playing catch-up and Jon decides he wants to make Boeuf Bourguignon from "MtAoFC" ( I really just like to type that!). So, off we go, to buy what ingredients we didn't already have. He started cooking about 2:30 and we ate about 8:00 ( we were able to do other things in between!) and I have to tell you it was AMAZING!!! I'm not sure if it's because Julia Child can, indeed, make a French chef out of anyone or if Jon really is a great cook (why weren't we aware of this before?). But, all I can say is, dinner out at a restaurant holds little appeal to me right now...just arm Jon with "MtAoFC" (see?) and the necessary ingredients and let him go...the results will be better than anything we could eat anywhere else!!! After dinner, he suggested that he might try a recipe a week...I sincerely hope he wasn't toying with my taste buds!!! Anyone else see the movie? Any thoughts out there? Oh, and HAPPY BIRTHDAY (tomorrow) to our youngest, Andrew!!! We love you!

What's Happening In 09-

We have just finished another wonderful Christmas season and of course the best Utah Football season ever. We were able to go and visit Michelle's family during the holidays, visit Disneyland and enjoy a rather nice Christmas time with all our Family and friends.
It is hard to believe we are almost now through January. We finally got out Christmas tree down and so we can officially call the holidays over. I tried to convince everyone we should just leave the tree up and replace the Christmas decorations with Valentine decorations. We have been able to remain healthy through the cold part of the year. Just a few sniffles.
Michelle has been busy at Barnes and Noble and our son Andrew joins her there next week. He has been working at the carwash in Draper. My work merrily goes along. I can't believe I am celebrating my 30th year in the Dental Industry.
Michelle and I have enjoyed seeing some movies together lately. We enjoyed Valkerie, and I made it through Bride Wars, we both really liked the Curious Case of Benjamin Buttons, and we found Last Chance Harvey to be a charming little love story. We haven't decided on tomorrows selection. Probably we will have to save that for a future entry on the blog. We also just got our tickets for the Eagles Concert at the Rio Tinto Stadium in May. I was able to get us up in the front section by the stage. We are both excited to see the show.
We have Stake conference next week and we are getting a new Stake Presidency. I was released in November from serving as the Stake Young Men's President and now have the fun duties of teaching our Gospel Doctrine class. Michelle is serving in the Stake Primary and I am also still serving as an ordinance worker at the Jordan River Temple. I will be moving over to the new Draper Temple in March, after the dedication takes place. Michelle and I have had the opportunity of serving during the open house for the new Draper Temple during the VIP tours and later during the future general tours in February and March. Our family has our general tour tickets for the 7th of March, after I return from Florida, attending the Venture Scout Conference for the Great Salt Lake Council, and to finish off my Wood Badge requirements.
All the kids and their lives seem to be going well, which makes Michelle and I obviously happy. Ayden, our grandson, is really developing quite the personality. We love and enjoy him when we get to see him and when he comes over every week while we watch him until Aaron gets off work. Hope this update finds everyone well who may read it!!

Another great day for our family...Chris and Stacey's wedding day...May 17, 2008. We had camera troubles that day, so just a few pics, more to come later. This was an absolutely perfect day for a couple who are perfect for each other. We feel so lucky to have Stacey a part of our family and want to thank her and her family for planning such a beautiful reception. It was a dinner for close family and friends at the Silver Lake Lodge in Deer Valley and it was beautiful. How did we get so lucky to have two perfect weddings just two months apart??? We are so happy for you Chris and Stacey, our newest newlyweds!

Remember when you called a girl, on the phone (the ONLY phone) in your house, located, by the way, in the kitchen so the WHOLE family could listen to you, and asked her to the prom and she basically said "Yes" or "No" right on the spot? And, if she had any class at all, the answer was , of course, "Yes". Ahh, simpler times!

While it may not be much to most of you, you will notice that I have changed my background. This is quite an accomplishment for me and, since it is approximately 2:30 AM, I can go to bed secure in the knowledge that I have mastered yet another aspect of this blogging thing. Yes, I am pretty proud of myself!

2008 has been quite a year and we're only into July. We have had two weddings and a high school graduation in the Sargent family. First...last October (2007) , Cori's best friend, Colin, came home from his mission and in November, they got engaged!! They chose March 27, 2008 as their wedding day. They have known each other since the ninth grade, but, what they didn't know was that they REALLY met before they could even walk. The Russells (Colin's family) lived around the corner from us when the kids were little. We met the Russells when Colin was 6 months old and Cori was 2 months old. So...we feel so lucky and blessed to have Colin be a part of our family. And we are so happy for them. They make a great couple!!

Okay...so I'm still lame about adding pictures and things...I will have it figured out by the end of the month!!! It's going to be great...she has so much natural ability and training, as well, to get this really going well. While trying to stay cool this summer, I decided to work on the blogspot that my daughter Cori started for me. I was having so much trouble with it that I decided just to start all over again and make a new one. Hopefully, I will be able to manage this one and make it work. I guess time will tell! Check in from time to time and see how I'm doing!! If you check in and there is nothing more than this first post, maybe you can throw me a lifeline and rescue me! Anyone?
